Name: Jim
Age - 29
Preferred Position – No 10
Favourite Player – Zidane or Rooney, impossible to decide between them
Plymouth Argyle super fan Jim is entering his second season with the Falcons. When not dancing through the opposition’s midfield, Jim can be found dancing through the pubs of South West London on karaoke night - usually treating the punters to a rousing rendition of “We Didn’t Start The Fire” by Billy Joel.
With a surname that scholars believe translates loosely as “Royal Potato” from the French, Jim possesses a playing style as cultured as his Gallic name suggests. Off the pitch, Jim loves Ginsters pasties, Annie Lennox and some of football’s elder statesmen, such as Arsène Wenger and Manuel Pellegrini. However to the consternation of his teammates, this last fact is due to their aesthetic features as opposed to their tactical nouse.
1) Why did you join the Falcons?
I had a great time playing for another gay friendly club, AFC Muswell Hill, but I desperately needed to escape from the early starts in Sunday League.
The Falcons were quick to respond to my email about training and I found a really welcoming team playing a good standard of football. There’s a great social side to the club that matches its ambition on the pitch.
2) What’s your best memory of the Falcons on the pitch?
Last season against Ocean Rangers we came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 late on. It was a game we really should have won but I think the match showed that we have a bit of grit and the capacity to pull something out of the bag. Definitely something to remember being a promoted club this season.
3) What’s been your best memory of the Falcons off the pitch?
Karaoke at the Tir Na Nog. The only known medicine for cup defeats.
4) Who’s your most annoying teammate?
Myles, for making me look like an unnecessary luxury. If Opta did stats for the Wimbledon and District League he’d be ranking for speed, dribbles and assists.
5) Why should someone join the Falcons?
To help me wrest control of the pre-match music mix from the Little Mix-Cheryl-Dua Lipa axis.
