Battling Falcons have cup dreams dashed

London Falcons were unable to overcome the odds and cause a cup upset, as they succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of AFC Cubo 2s.

Falcons XI: Matt H; Matt D, George, Declan, Pete, Kieran; Jimmy, Jim, Myles; Will, Rob. Subs: Jeff J, Paddy Man of the Match: Declan and Jimmy Against opposition two divisions above, Falcons knew that they needed to keep things tight to have a chance of any cup upset. However, an early goal shattered this game plan, with a quick attacking move catching out the Falcons’ backline after just two minutes.

The visitors rallied and steadied the ship and did well to take their opponents in at half time with the score still 1-0. However, as the second half progressed, fitness became a deciding factor, with injuries starting to pile up for the reasonably threadbare Falcons. This became key as the goals started to rain for the hosts, who finished the day 4-0 victors. Still, we go again next week when we’re back in league action against Ocean Rangers!

If you fancy joining the squad, why not come down to training at Kennington Park, where we meet every Tuesday night at 7:45pm! We play league matches on Saturday afternoons, which means Soccer Special and drinks in the pub afterwards!
