    Set Pieces Win the Day!

In a game dedicated to improving our style of play, Falcons naturally ran out 3-2 winners over Phoenix with goals from a free kick, penalty and corner. The constant theme of the season has been the inability to keep a regular starting line-up and Sunday was no different. Injuries prevented Duncan (sporting) and Conal (drunken New Year's Eve) from participating, Brady continues his suspension while Jimmy and Stevie were away. Fortunately, John and Olu were both fit to start

    All good things...

Falcons suffered their first league defeat since March as Charlton came from a goal behind to win 2-1 in south east London. After the usual batch of late withdrawals, Olu and John set new standards for Falcons ridiculousness by travelling the Charlton Athletic’s stadium, rather than the training venue. This meant a rather unfamiliar line-up with Matt joining Pete and Duncan at the back while Percy made his league debut in midfield. Charlton started the better team and should

    Ten Men Top The Table!

Falcons had to play with ten men for 35 minutes but still emerged 3-0 winners to send us to the top of the LUL table. With our three top scorers - Alex, Paddy and Chris - all unavailable, it was time for some of the other guys to get some pitch time. Ben Morgan came in on the right wing for his first game in a while. Olu started up front while there were also returns for Jimmy and Stevie. Conditions weren't ideal with a strong wind against us and a pitch that made playing f

New Boys Shine in Cup Win

Falcons progress to the quarter finals of the GFSN Cup with a comprehensive 9-2 win over Leftfooters in Barnes. The fixture was used to provide those who hadn't seen as much pitch time this season to stake their claim for a position in future games. Jimmy, Paddy, Stevie, Alex, John, Jack and the two Bens were absent as Kevin and Percy made their debuts and Abdul made his first start. Chairman Matt came in at leftback. Fortunately, any fears about gelling as a team were unfo

    Paddy keeps on scoring!

In a repeat of the scoreline when the two teams met in September, Falcons defeated AFC Muswell Hill 4-2 in north London. With a complete absence of leftbacks, Jimmy kindly stepped into defence. Phil made his first start of the season in midfield while there was a welcome return for Olu, particularly with Chris and John unavailable up front. We were kept waiting for a referee to show up and perhaps the long wait for the match to start had an effect on our alertness as the hom

    High Five Falcons!

Falcons put in a stunning display to overcome an early setback and dominate in a 5-1 win over Soho FC in Barnes. There was quite a long list of absentees for the game as last week's goalscorers Chris and Jimmy joined Kieran and the two Bens as those who couldn't make it, while Jack and Ed remained sidelined. On the plus side, Olu declared himself fit enough for a place on the bench while Paddy and Stevie returned to the starting line-up. Things couldn't have started much wor

    Back to winning ways!

Falcons finally hit top gear with a 4-2 win over AFC Muswell Hill in Barnes. There was disappointing news in the week with both Olu and Ed announcing they would be out for several weeks with injuries. However, we welcomed back John, Jimmy and Conal for the first time this season as we looked to build upon two draws to claim our first three points of the league season. Muswell Hill – formally Romans Manor House – arrived with some momentum on the back of an impressive first g

Pretty Poor but Enough for a Draw

Paddy scored twice to rescue a point for Falcons in one of our more underwhelming displays against Stonewall. Chris was away this weekend but happily there were returns for Stevie and Andrew, while Dean made his league debut in goal, allowing Matt to start in midfield. Without going to far into the details, pretty much all of our game was off. Stonewall passed the ball better, worked harder and challenged harder. That said, there wasn't a serious effort from them by the time

Opening the Season with a Sizzler!

Falcons began the defence of the LUL Title with an entertaining 4-4 draw against Bexley in Barnes. The familiar feeling of dread on waking up to messages from the early hours in the match WhatsApp group returned in full force on Sunday morning. Fair play to Jack, he's set new standards early on this season, having attempted (unsuccessfully) to leap over railings on Saturday night and ultimately ending up in A&E with a fractured elbow. Kieran and Conal also had to drop out o

    Last Gasp Winner!

We couldn't have left it any later as debut boy Cal scores with the final kick of the game to defeat Mersey Marauders 2-1 in Liverpool. There was an early start on a sunny day as 13 of the Falcons and guest for the weekend Trevor met at London Euston to catch the train up the the north west. Things that we learnt while travelling: Jimmy had a traumatic childhood involving Mini Cheddars and we all suck at football quizzes. There were a number of new faces in the squad at the

    Champions!

We did it! Falcons did their job on Sunday and won the final match of the season 1-0 to claim the LUL title for the first time since 2012. Having topped the league all of the way through the season, we required a win to make sure of being champions. In our way were Titans XXL in Chiswick while second-placed Romans hosted Titans 2 Brewers, hoping we'd slip up. With a full squad to choose from, Andrew, Chris and Stevie returned to the starting line-up while a strong bench fea

The Golden Boot race heats up!

Olu’s second hat trick of the season saw him tie level with Chris in the battle for the Falcons Golden Boot as we defeated Stonewall 9-2. With both Chris and Andrew away there was certainly a lot of height missing but Jimmy and Elliot both returned to be effective replacements. For their part, this was a very different Stonewall team to the one that ran us very close in a 5-4 win back in November. Much like our previous game against Phoenix, things couldn’t have started bett

    Seven heaven!

Falcons put in their most dominating display of the season on Sunday as Phoenix were despatched 7-0 on Wandsworth Common. There were quite a few absentees for this game as Jimmy, Stevie and Elliot were unavailable while Jack joined Paddy on the injury list. Fortunately we were able to welcome back Olu and Kieran from their aches and pains and there was the added bonus that the opposition were also missing some key personnel. The start couldn’t have been much better as Pete’s

    Soho Slip-up!

The chance was there to go 5 points clear with 3 games to go. But we wouldn't want to make life easy for ourselves, would we? Despite having an unchanged team for the first time in recent memory, Falcons couldn't quite get to the level of recent performances and, with a bit of luck against us, we went down 3-4 to a spirited Soho side. Soho started well without causing a massive threat and it was slightly against the run of play when a throughball from Duncan found John burst

4-0 keeps Falcons at the top

Falcons maintained their position at the top of the league with a comfortable 4-0 win over Titans XXL on Wandsworth Common. Olu was the latest addition to the growing injury list, which meant Jack coming in on the left in the only change from the previous week’s goalless draw against Romans. Francesco and Elliot returned to the bench, joined by Matt who has been received as a charitable donation from Birmingham Blaze. In truth, the game was very comfortable throughout, with

Honours even in top of the table clash

It was a hard-fought affair between the league’s top two sides and it ended in a rare 0-0 draw. We had a continuing absence of players as Paddy joined the injury list while Elliot and Francesco were unavailable. Fortunately, Pete and Kieran were just about fit enough to make the starting line-up and bench, respectively, while Duncan also returned at the back. Stevie made his first start up front. Romans started the better of the two teams and had a shot charged down from th

Falcons came back from an early setback away to East Phoenix to win 4-1 and return to the top of the London Unity League. There was a bit of an injury crisis among the club's senior players. Ritchie and Kieran were both absent while Pete relegated himself to an unused substitute role. There was a debut for Jimmy who had impressed in training, while Chris made a welcome return from his travels up front. The team started well with some early attacking threat but there was a m

Well that didn't go very well!

Falcons slipped up in a big way on Sunday, losing 3-1 at home to bottom of the table London Titans Two Brewers. There were no excuses. A full-strength team with quality on the bench was available but pretty much every area of our game was off. The opposition did their job well. They were mostly on the defensive but limited Falcons to few opportunities early on. Then, from our own corner, they pounced, taking advantage of some unusually poor marking to score on the counter

    2017 Begins with a Win!

Falcons kicked off 2017 with a strong 3-1 victory over Romans House and a hat trick for Olu. Having not played for ten weeks, the boys were desperate to get back on the pitch, although the enthusiasm faded a little as they discovered a quarter of it was still frozen half an hour before kick-off. Fortunately, a bit of sunshine and a lot of warm-up activity on the patch in question helped to soften the ground up just enough to avoid any chance of a postponement. For the first

Birthday Boy Duncan Grabs 3 Goals and 3 Points!

Falcons held off a late fightback from a very strong Stonewall team to win 5-4 and extend their lead at the top of the London Unity League. With Elliot and Paddy away, Andrew and Duncan made their way into the starting XI. Juddy returned up front as Olu moved out to the wing while there was a guest appearance in goal for the first 45 minutes as Chairman Dean deputised for Conal who was having transport issues. With some knowledge of the opposition in hand, the squad Stonewal
